Hey All-
Nothing much was in store for my team this weekend. The weather was really rainy and we ended up cancelling our double headers against the PeeWees and the Wanderers. So we had most of the weekend off. Conny, our Austrian pitcher, had already flown in from Vienna for the weekend and we still did a couple of things as a team. On Friday night we played a game of Hearts which was a first for me. I have learned that no matter what game you play, when athletes are involved it could get dangerously competitive. After I won, that we retired for the night, it was hard to sleep in my victory crown but I made do!
Saturday morning we woke up early for the games and it was already raining. We headed to the field anyway because sometimes it rains where we live, and its fine weather in Hard, where the field is. This wasn't the case though, the field had taken a lot of rain the night before. We gave it our best attempt to remove the water from the field so that we could play. We were unsuccessful at best. We were literally using paper cups and buckets to remove the water from the field, another first for me! Makes me miss the amazing field crew we had at A&M. After a couple of hours of trying to get the water off the field, you guessed it, another downpour came and we cancelled the games for the weekend.
The next time that we play will be the upcoming weekend in Vienna. The Sharkies are the number one seed going into the Austrian League Finals. We will play Friday and Saturday and return back to Dornbirn on Sunday. On Monday morning, Holly and I will head to Switzerland to fly back to the States. While we are both sad to be leaving our new teammates and friends, we are also really excited to be home and see our families!
All for now- E
