Preparation Week

Hey All-

Last weekend we traveled to Vienna Austria to play some Austrian League games. The Sharx have not lost the regular season Austrian League in something like 12 years. We played a double header against the Wanderers on Friday night and they had Lauren DeLaney who pitched at Northwestern on there roster. We won both games that night and then stayed in a hotel in Vienna. The next day we were supposed to play the Rag Dolls but ended up getting rained out. We decided to go as a team for Mexican food that night, which was amazing! We have had a lot of trouble finding Mexican food in Austria that is actually good and not somehow been converted to normal Austrian cuisine. Sunday we packed up from the hotel and drove about an hour to the home field of the PeeWees where we played another double header. We won both games again and headed back to Dornbirn with a successful weekend under our belts.

This week our team is practicing for the European Cup, which is our biggest tournament of the season. The Sharx won this tournament last year and were the first team from Austria to ever do so. This week is called Preparation Week because we are practicing twice a day and they actually bring in professional mens fastpitch pitchers to throw us batting practice. The guys that are throwing to us are from Holland and the Dominican Republic. They are both really great and its almost unfair how they can spin the ball with so much power.

The European Cup will begin Sunday night with Opening Ceremonies and continue for a week straight. There are 9 teams total and there is only one pool so we will all play every team there and then the top four will compete in tournament play for the Championship. I will try to post a link on my page to the main website for the tournament.

We are all really excited to get to Amsterdam and win this tournament!

All for now-E
