Hey All!
As most of you know I made it to Switzerland at about 8AM on Wednesday morning(about 3AM EST) and we continued the journey to Austria by bus which was about an hour longer. The flight from Philly to Zurich was about 8 hours long. I was on the plane with my new Sharxx teammates, Dani Spaulding and Kelsi Weseman. It was nice to have other people with me the first time that I flew internationally. The only difference is when we arrived at the airport in Zurich, we had to go through customs in which they checked our passports before we got to the baggage claim.
Yesterday was our first practice with the team. We practiced at the Sharxx field at 6:15. Luckily our coach, Holly Krzan, took it easy on us since we had just stepped off the plane. We did a warmup and a round of hitting stations. Everything was very loose and it gave us a great opportunity to get familiar with all the Austrian players. They are very behind but very anxious and willing to learn. After practice we had a barbeque with the girls and the managers … the cuisine is very different but very tasty!
Today we didn’t have practice so we did our first sightseeing of the trip. We took a 45 minute bikeride to Bregenz and then hiked up a mountain for two hours until we finally reached the top! It was an UNBELIEVABLE workout! The end result was breathtaking and also an amazing memory. Tonight Dani and I are going out with one of the Austrian player to downtown Dornbirn.
For Now, E
